The area was first settled in 1842 and its livelihood was almost exclusively agricultural; however, following the construction of the Dallas-Wichita Railroad through Trinity Mills in 1878, the community began to grow in its industrial influence. By 1885, Carrollton had flour mills, cotton gins, two churches, a school, and a population of 150. Carrollton was incorporated in 1913 and today has a population of around 133,300.
Fun Fact: Carrollton was named in honor of Charles Carroll, the last living signer of the Declaration of Independence.
