In 1832, the farming community of Grapevine Springs was organized in the vacinity of the present-day Grapevine Springs Park. In 1887, the community became known as Gibbs, and in 1890, the name was changed to Coppell. Incorporated in 1955, Coppell now has a population of around 42,300.
Fun Fact: In 1893, Coppell had four stores, a lumber yard, a blacksmith shop, a cotton gin, and a school. By 1911, a public well and watering trough had been added in the center of town.
